Poems: Rebootback to poem listing
Nervous with the 1's and 0's
typing with animosity.
Working hard with not much RAM,
can you please pop in a CD?
Hard drive corrupt, format it now,
what exactly is the cache?
Open up a word processor,
There's the dragon, make it past!
Oh no! Another virus now,
who makes these things up anyway?
Three reports, two presentations,
and ten emails. All today?
Let's defrag and must not burn in
the images onto the screen.
48 new Spam emails
not one I really want to read.
Now here's something new today
an error before I have not seen
Did I save? I don't think I did
and now it's time, I think I'll scream.
Firewall's down, this program's a hog
it's taking all my memory.
One button is all that's left to push
Restart, reboot, oh man! I'm free!
And now here's scandisk, what is that?
Errors on my main drive?
Cancel that, it takes too long
six hours left, no make that five.
The emails down, no! Not again!
let's call up tech support.
"Press CTRL-Alt-Delete, to see
if you have come up short."
Big help you are and I've still got
two reports and eight emails
I have to do by six o'clock
'cause then I really have to bail.
Two hours later and one report down
the e-mails still not up.
Get cracking on that last report
just after filling my coffee cup.
Another two hours flew right by
but everything is done,
except the emails, check and see
if I can now send one.
Yes sir! It's up and now I can
finish up for the day.
Seven emails later I'm on
the eighth and final one! Hooray!
But what's this? Another blue screen?
Another error on this thing?
I check all of the network tools,
net send, config and (of course) ping.
None of them are working,
the internet again is blown.
No calling up the tech support,
as they have all gone back home.
So stuck here in the office,
why did I play Quest of Knights?
I still have one more email and
it's five to six, this really bites.
Rebooting yet another time to try
to solve the large vexation
Typing out the email I
then put in the location
to where it should end up tonight,
the address is all set.
I hit "send" and hope for it's
safe journey across the net.
I don't wait up, I hit the off switch,
out to hail a cab in the street.
I leave before it's fan is stopped,
it's 6 o'clock and I am beat! |
