Poems: Lightback to poem listing
I saw the light, once, long ago
it filled me full of joy
and then, quite quickly it left me
a scared and lonely boy.
For months and months I never once
attempted to see the light.
Too scared to be in the dark again
so I never left my night.
One great day not too long ago
a small glimmer did appear.
That glimmer grew to what it is
and pulled me from that fear.
To what you are, is neatly said,
you are my saving grace.
You are my light, my happiness
I see it in your face.
And now if I see myself again
thrown right into in the black.
I'll know the light was worth it
and never once look badly back.
You shine, you're smile, always there
it's always nice and bright.
I think about it, all the time,
you'll always be my light.
