Poems: All the sameback to poem listing
She's got what it takes to survive,
in this harsh world, to stay alive.
She knows exactly how to please
and all my needs she will appease.
She wants me now because she's aware
I'm her ticket to anywhere.
She knows what to say and perfectly how,
to make my heart stop beating now.
She plays me well, she knows the game,
but I know too, it's all the same.
I let her play these games of hers
because to me they are just words.
She won't get what she wants from me
because I'm smart, she doesn't see
that I too am playing a game
to pull her in, to make her play.
I want from her what she wants from me.
Release from this mediocrity.
She pulls me down while I pull up
but we both know that we're both stuck.
To move us from this awkward place
would mean to go our separate ways.
So what else should I rather do?
I say goodbye and off I move.
"I'm free now," says I to myself,
"I'm free now from that awful hell.
Never again do I want those games."
I say to myself, but it's all the same.
